I don't know why this limit was imposed, but Im already not liking it.

I have 4,202 unique items in my holiday/event gallery, and under the new system it'll need to be put into at least 5 different galleries, which means figuring out which events (and items) will be in which gallery, and then sorting them into those categories...

Because if things remain limitless, it will only continue to strain the servers with the amount of information to load when requested. This was a change long overdue.

I'm not for it 100% yet myself.

Do remember though, they are STARTING OFF small and expect to raise it. I just hope it's a decent amount (5k gallery would not be that bad). My one gallery alone is going to make 3 galleries, I got two other specific galleries (minions and birthstones), one specific shop and one sorting one I plan to keep. Sadly with the 1k limit I'd have to either stash a lot in the vault or sell it off/use it.

I'm going to wait a couple days to see how much they plan to raise it before I really get upset. 1k for a gallery isn't that much considering there are over 40k items alone on the site.

I'm all for ridding the strain on the servers but I'm with you, the limit is much too small. I'm not even sure what to say I'm so shocked at these low limits. To go from 10 shops/galleries with the capacity for thousands of items to a top amount of 6k is just ridiculous. I have an event gallery with 5,220 items and a just pretties gallery with 4,116 items.

I know they have said this isn't a final limit it will be increased. So I'm expected to destroy my gallery with it's 20 catagories. Then shove it in to 6 seperate galleries, or risk it all getting jumbled in my vault, just so the limit can then be risen and I have to recreate it all?!

Makes sense...Its REALLY going to suck for people that have over 6000 items in a galle4ry they want to display, and can't anymore (which brings up the idea on being able to buy another shop with CSC or something...)

I'm also beginning to see the cons outweighing the pros.

There must be a better way to go about this, such as raising the initially proposed limits. We also currently we have no way of conveniently removing thousands of items from our shops/galleries, yet we are only being given 9 days to do it.

Can we at least be given more time to get our item affairs in order?

Limits may need to be imposed, but 250/500 items is laughable at best.

I honestly do not care about the new limits if it means better server performance.

I have over 10,000 unique items in my shop and over 20,000 non-unique. So this announcement was 100% serious? Should i use my saved ga and autoprice while hoping everything sells (which it won't.) Or should i wait and see how all this unfolds? What's the best step to take?

Somebody please tell me because i am at a loss

I feel the limits are too low but this may be adjusted in the future. Really, this is a necessary change that people will just need to get used to. No reason someone needs 50k different items in a shop. I'd think it would cause them to have more server issues than the average user.

@blackwolf_2009 At least the number of individual items isn't going to be affected (like having 5000 of one type of mage amulet). I don't like multiples of items in my gallery except for a few things, so that really doesn't bother me.

Im not sure how many categories my gallery has, but theres at least one for ever 'big' event (Masquerade, New Years, Vesnali, Morostide...) and then a few others for smaller ones that happen throughout the year. And i get irritated really easily, so recreating it is going to drive me bonkers

A lower limit for non GA users i get, but its still a pain in the ass so far.

I have no idea...Maybe wait until it switches over automatically, or switch yourself now and autoprice so you don't 'lose' a day or two?

That many in an actual shop I can kinda understand. But Im not the only one that collects things like holiday or event items and want to show them off.

While the change is long overdue, and should have been implemented years ago, the way that this is going about is honestly terrible - particularly the low, low limit on the shops that that old shops will eventually be disabled.

I've been more or less on break for months, and after doing all of my quests in a day, I usually end up with a good amount of items - I have to clean my inventory before I can finish all of my quests. I figure I get about 100 items a day? It's nice since I can just throw those items in my shop, and once it's actually a good time for me to invest into a gold account, I can just use my autopricer to price all of the miscellaneous items that aren't worth hand pricing. But the shop limit would literately be less than a week of questing, not to mention all of the other items I have.. And I have nothing in comparison to the people with massive shops/galleries.

Not to mention I'm really upset I won't be able to use my old shop once this update goes through, if I'm understanding correctly. I've been on subeta for over ten years, and I've had my current, active shop throughout all those years - it really sucks I'm loosing it (or, the ability to use it, anyways), but not just that, but the fact that I'm losing it for a feature that from the looks of it, will be half-baked and probably eventually ignored like so many other things on the site.

I've been loyal and active on this site for over a decade and if there was ever a feature that seems as though it's forcing someone to buy the gold account to have any real shot at making money on the site (autopricer, to be able to stock more than a weeks worth of quest rewards...), this is it. It doesn't help the matter that csc is massively went up in sP since Black Friday, and never came down. I get that the site needs revenue and all that, but this really seems to take away a lot of incentive to bother anymore.

I agree that the change is needed, but we also don't know when the limits will be adjusted. We could be talking months here...

I wonder what the greater impact on the economy will look like with so few items in circulation.

The limits will more likely than not be increased as testing begins. If necessary, feel free to report your shop/gallery numbers on the beta testing thread, which will give staff a better idea about creating more appropriate limits.

It is also up to each user individually to consider narrowing down the amount of galleries and collections they currently think they really need to own at once. But that's a separate, personal issue itself.

That's the same with me. Unless it's one intended to be multiples I usually try to keep it to one.

It may be finally time to re-do my vault, clear it out and then do whatever I need to in preparation of the new shop system. -lol- So this may just be the push I need to do stuff. XD

Thank you guys for understanding. We're adding more things to the FAQ as they pop up, I just wanted to hop on real quick to say that we are looking into an easier way to move items around. Also, you won't have to have everything moved over by the time the new shops go live. Other people just won't be able to see them for the mean time.

Yeah I agree the limits are too low, and that will be annoying for collections and stuff, but until the limit gets changed whenever that may be, we just have to deal with it. It's annoying, but if you fo have a GA, you can spread your collections across multiple galleries for a temporary solution. It's not ideal, but unless you want the 502s to be an ongoing issue that never gets fixed, this just has to happen

I feel like Subeta used to have a lot of things and as years went on, more and more features were disabled. In addition, new features are usually promptly released and then left unfinished for months or years. If you're gonna do something as big as this, it better forever solve all the errors Subeta has been getting for years, otherwise, what is this big "strain on the servers" you're mentionning? What will we blame the next 502 on?

You're downsizing, putting less strain on the servers instead of scaling up and getting more power. Essentially, every step forward Subeta makes, it compensates with two steps back. If this is such a big deal, I expect a huge difference to be noticed, otherwise, why bother, given how critical this feature is ?

And also : what the fuck are people supposed to do with their items? You've allowed us to have thousands to tens of thousands of items for years and ten shops, and now all of sudden I'm allowed to 500 items and 3 shops. Vaults are going to feel the "strain on the servers", trust me.
